Matham Grove
East Dulwich, London
Located in East Dulwich, London, this project breathes new life into a Victorian end-of-terrace house that had lost much of its original character through previous alterations. In collaboration with Yam Studios, the primary intervention involved opening up the rear living spaces to reconnect the home with its garden. By relocating a ground floor bathroom and removing a restrictive lean-to dining area, we created a seamless flow between the interior and outdoor spaces.
A new timber-lined opening was introduced to link the front and rear of the house, thoughtfully blending original features with contemporary elements. Natural light was a key driver in the design, with rooms reconfigured to maximise daylight throughout the day.
In the dining area, tactile materials were used to establish a warm, inviting atmosphere—a space where the clients can gather and enjoy meaningful moments with family and friends.
